Misadventurous

Behold, another t-shirt idea! This one took more time than the "Generations" shirt, and I'm very happy with the result.

For this idea, we decided to do a mash up, and we felt the comic, "Calvin and Hobbes" mixed very well with the cartoon, "The Misadventures of Flapjack." Both Calvin and Flapjack are incredibly adventurous, have wild imaginations, and can find fun in just about everything.

In terms of art direction, I wanted to mix both the styles of the comic and the cartoon. The comic takes, what I feel is, a very messy yet organized approach to the drawings. Line weight is important and while not every line completes to form the object, the reader can still keep following it to complete the shape and it totally works. The cartoon, however, uses very thick lines and is very graphic in detail. The cartoon also uses very little shadow, and instead favors hatching in shadows.

I like the way the shading came in, and I feel it's about as close to the middle-ground as you're gonna get between these two concepts. Anyway, loved this project, and like I said before, I love "Calvin and Hobbes", and I love "The Misadventures of Flapjack", and I want to thank the creators Bill Watterson and Thurop Van Orman for bringing these guys into my life! :D

Generations of Animation

This, my friends, is a piece called "Generations of Animation", a t-shirt submission of mine to the t-shirt company Teefury. A friend of mine approached me the other day about working together on ideas to submit to this site so we can start getting our names out there.

The money is nice too hahaha...

So naturally, I said yeah, and this is our first submission. We both love cartoons, past and present, and I'm also an Animation major, so this one was a no brainer. We wanted to show were animation used to be, what it was like then, and where we've gotten to now.

I still look at this and think, "wow, we've really gone from an anthropomorphic mouse, to a robot truck, to a noodle-arm boy and his elastic dog. There's never really been a shortage of creativity in my eyes, and I hope we keep rolling with this and come up with great ideas. I also hope I'm able to be a part of all of that in some way!

Keep your eyes peeled for more submissions, as we're currently on break right now so I have all the time in the world to pump some more designs out! :D

Still Not Listening...

This is my major project for my web animation class, we had to take audio from the 11 Second Club and animate to it in flash. I created the barbarian character before this month's contest started, and once I heard the audio, I knew I had a good fit! I just needed a second character, and a smaller wizard was a great counter to the big, strong barbarian.

It's great too, because an educated wizard never uses his magic unless he absolutely needs to. Can you imagine if Gandalf was pulling some Balrog-esque shit in the Shire? Hobbit corpses, hobbit corpses everywhere. So we see as the video progresses that the wizard is getting frustrated beyond belief because he isn't getting the attention he is trying to command. He's a small guy, and the smaller guys don't usually get to command attention, they have to go the extra mile, sometimes they have to do something BIG.

Magic is pretty big...

Going Commando

The quarter is done with and I officially have A LOT of free time! And that can only mean two things, lots more drawing, and I get to rock some Old Republic! This game is incredibly fun and I really enjoy the Trooper class. Maybe it's speaks something of my character, or maybe it means I'm a pansy, but I can't play bad or evil characters in any RPG I play, I just can't do it. I'll never play anything other than a Paragon in Mass Effect, Hawke and my Hero of Ferelden are the nicest guys around, etc., etc.

I attempted a Sith Warrior for a time, and I hated what I was doign and the people I had to work with, Imperial scum! So, I'm really enjoying things with my trooper and hope to level cap him before I get more work to do.

Fingers crossed!

Prince Apophas

Behold, the HORROR! Prince Apophas, of the Tomb Kings army makes his way on to my humble blogspot! He is a lord of the army and a potential buy for me. I think it's great that his body is made up entirely of scarabs, very creepy too.

Can you imagine if his body was made up of scabs? I think that would drastically alter the dynamics of his "being"...

Just takes one typo to mess it all up

Temple Guard!

I just finished painting the standard bearer for these guys and I thought I'd give him the proper treatment by drawing him. I enjoy drawing these guys, they're muscular, but have the features of a lizard in that they are scaly, point, and leathery. Suppose that's why they're called LIZARDMEN.

Who knows...

Might be a little while until a new picture comes along, but in the meantime I may or may not start collecting for a new army. I'm addicited, man.
